Friends: I am writing to ask your assistance in recruiting participants for an emergency solidarity delegation to Palestine in response to the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the rising violence in Jerusalem and the West Bank. The invitation (below)) outlines the basic goals and scope of the delegation. We represent five organizations listed below and are responding to the urgent plea from our Palestinian sisters and brothers given the callous responose of the U.S. government and the silence of the western churches and mainstream media. We realize this is a fast turnaround but we need your help today ias we reach out to potential participants for this solidarity delegation, departing February 27-March 3 in Palestine and Israel, with March 5-6 in Washington, DC. The purpose of the last leg of the trip willl be to deliver a strong message to the President, Congress, church leadership, the media, and the faith community at large concerning the need for an immediate change in U.S. policy in Gaza with demands for a permanent ceasefire and justice for the Palestinian people with security for both Israelis and Palestinians based on justice as set forth in international law. The delegation is being organized by Kairos-Palestine and will meet with Palestinian and Israeli leaders during the February 27-March 3.phase in Palestine and Israel. The Washington, DC phase and the delegation itself is sponsored by Kairos USA, the Indiana Center for Mddle East Peace, the Samuel Dewitt Proctor Conference, Palestinian Christian Alliance for Peace, and the Episcopal Bishop´s Committee for Justice and Peace in the Holy Land---Episcopal Diocese of Olympia (WA). While the participants may be primarily Christian, hoping to challenge the ongoing silence of the western churches, we are compely open to persons from other faiths or no faith.
